Sleeping on a firm mattress without a pillow is advisable in the quest for maintaining a healthy neck. To counter any discomfort when pain has persisted over a long period of time, then you need to consult a medical expert to give you a soft neck collar. However, ensure that you do not use that collar for far too long.
